Ricardo Santos recorded his second win of the season with a fine performance over the Quinta do Lago South course where he recorded a 9 under par total to beat Billy Spooner and fellow Portuguese professional Tiago Cruz by two shots.
Jimmy Mullen led on 6 under par after the first round, from the eventual winner Ricardo Santos, George Mullins, Billy Spooner and Tiago Cruz.
But with a high-quality group of players in the chasing pack the leaders were not going to have an easy ride to the finishing line.
On another beautiful day, the second round got underway and the first to show with a solid 4 under par 68 was Chris Selfridge, who set the bar at 4 under but it was unlikely to be low enough for him to win.
The race for the title eventually boiled down to a battle between Santos, Cruz and Spooner after first round leader Mullen failed to capitalise on his first-round lead with a 2 over par front nine that dropped him back into the pack.
Spooner, in the penultimate group, came in with a potentially winning total of 7 under par but his hopes of a win or play-off were soon dashed when Santos birdied the seventeenth to go 2 shots clear.
A solid par at the last sealed victory for Santos, who is having a great season and is building a high level of confidence ready for his Challenge Tour season.
We now move the short distance to the North course at Quinta do Lago for the final tournament of Swing 3 before moving West to Penina and Palmares for Swing four.
