David Dixon, fresh of his win at Boavista, continued his excellent run form with a win in the Monte Rei Pro-am and then made it 3 in a row by winning the Morgado Classic, which is played over the same course as the Portugal Open Championship.

Dixon played some fine golf to post a tournament score of 6 under par to defeat local hero, Tiago Cruz by one shot, with two amateurs, Jessica Hall and the young Korean, Dong Hun Jung a further shot back.

The first round had the tournament being led by Hall and Jung who both scored 5 under par scores of 68 and that is the first time we have had amateurs leading one of our events, which goes to show how strong the amateur game is now.

Dixon played consistent golf throughout the tournament, registering 2 rounds of 3 under par over the lengthened course and he was almost caught by Cruz, who registered a second round of 5 under par to miss out by one shot.
